If you are travelling to TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, the most useful preparation happens before you arrive.
The event brings together brands, retailers, buyers, airports, airlines, cruise operators and other professionals from across the global duty free and travel retail industry. For first-time attendees, however, the challenge is not simply knowing where the exhibition is. It is understanding how to structure your week around meetings, conference sessions, networking, transportation and dinners.
TFWA World Exhibition & Conference 2026 takes place from 27 September to 1 October 2026 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
This practical guide focuses on the questions you are most likely to have before travelling to Cannes: how to register, where to collect your badge, how to get from Nice Airport to Cannes, how the shuttle system works, when the exhibition is open, where to stay, how to plan meetings and what to organise before departure.

Registration and badge collection: what first-time attendees need to know
If you have not registered yet, this is the first thing to check. TFWA pre-registration for 2026 is now closed. Visitors can still register directly on site by presenting a business card at the Gare Maritime in Cannes. Visitor registration begins on Saturday 26 September, while exhibitors can register from Friday 25 September. The Gare Maritime is also the location for badge collection.
A practical tip for first-time attendees
If you arrive in Cannes before your first scheduled meeting, collect your badge as early as possible rather than leaving it until Monday morning. This gives you one less administrative task on the busiest day of the programme and lets you start the exhibition with your schedule already organised. Remember that TFWA access is restricted to eligible industry participants and requires an appropriate visitor or exhibitor badge.
How to get to TFWA Cannes from Nice Airport
For international attendees, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is the principal airport serving Cannes.
TFWA provides free shuttle services connecting Nice Airport with Cannes during the event period. There is also a train connection between Nice Airport and Cannes. TFWA notes that trains from Nice Saint-Augustin station can reach Cannes in as little as 22 minutes.
For corporate groups, executive teams and delegates travelling with a busy meeting schedule, a pre-arranged private transfer is often the most practical option.
Private transfer: the most efficient option for corporate groups
If you are travelling to Cannes for TFWA with colleagues, clients or a larger corporate group, arranging your airport transfer in advance can make the arrival process considerably easier.
A private transfer allows your journey to be organised around your flight arrival, group size, hotel and schedule, rather than relying on the availability and timetable of public or shared transport.

TFWA airport shuttle
The 2026 airport service begins on Saturday 26 September, with transfers from Terminals 1 and 2 to the Palais des Festivals operating hourly between 12:00 and 20:00.
On Sunday 27 September and Monday 28 September, shuttle services to Cannes operate at more frequent intervals, with TFWA representatives present at the airport during specified hours.
This is a useful option if you are staying at one of the participating hotels.
For executive teams, VIP guests or groups travelling with tight schedules, a pre-arranged private transfer may be more appropriate. The benefit is not simply comfort: it allows the arrival journey to be planned around the team’s actual schedule.
Getting around Cannes during TFWA week
One of the advantages of Cannes is its compact centre. The Palais, Croisette, Old Port, central hotels and many restaurants are within walking distance.
During a major event, however, walking distance and practical travel time are not always the same thing. Crowds, meeting schedules and traffic can make a short journey take considerably longer than it would on a normal day.
This is one reason EAS recommends thinking about transport as part of the event schedule rather than organising each journey separately.

TFWA shuttle buses in Cannes
TFWA operates dedicated shuttle routes between participating hotels and the Palais des Festivals.
For example, Route 1, connecting Hotel Juliana, Grand Hyatt Martinez, Carlton and JW Marriott, runs every 15 minutes between 08:15 and 19:00 on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September. Other routes serve hotels in Le Cannet, Montfleury and the wider Cannes area at 30-minute intervals during designated periods.
There are also dedicated services for the Sunday Opening Cocktail at Carlton Beach.
Save the official 2026 shuttle timetable before travelling. It is much easier to check your route in advance than to work it out between meetings.
What should you expect at the TFWA exhibition?
The exhibition is built around the international duty-free and travel retail industry, with exhibitors spanning categories including beauty, fashion, jewellery, watches, food and confectionery, electronics, wine and spirits, tobacco and travel accessories.
For a first-time attendee, the sheer number of companies and meetings can make the exhibition feel overwhelming. The best approach is to arrive with a priority list.
How to plan business meetings during TFWA
TFWA is designed around business networking, so your meeting schedule should be treated as carefully as your travel itinerary.
If you are participating in ONE2ONE, use the service strategically. TFWA describes it as a programme designed to bring prospective business partners together through pre-arranged meetings.
Leave space between meetings
Avoid creating a schedule where every 30-minute slot is occupied.
A meeting at the Palais may finish on time, but your next conversation could be in another part of the building, at a hotel or over lunch.
Build in at least 10–15 minutes of transition time whenever possible.
Where should you stay during TFWA Cannes?
For TFWA, accommodation location can have a direct impact on your schedule.
The Palais des Festivals is at the heart of Cannes, with La Croisette and the Old Port immediately around it.
Staying centrally gives you the possibility of walking to meetings, restaurants and networking events rather than depending on transport for every appointment.
EAS’s Cannes neighbourhood guide explains the practical differences between La Croisette, La Banane, Le Suquet, Palm Beach, La Californie and Super Cannes.
The key question is not simply: “Which hotel is best?”
It is: “Which location will make my schedule easiest to manage?”
For a senior executive with meetings concentrated around the Palais, proximity can be more valuable than additional hotel facilities.
For a corporate group, a larger apartment or villa may make more sense if the team needs shared space, privacy or an informal meeting environment.
Business lunches and dinners in Cannes
Business lunches and dinners are an important part of the TFWA week. Many of the most useful conversations happen away from the exhibition floor, whether over a quick lunch between meetings or during an evening dinner with clients, partners or colleagues.
Cannes offers a wide range of options, from restaurants along the Croisette to more intimate venues in the streets behind the Palais. For larger groups or important client dinners, it is worth looking beyond a standard restaurant table and considering private dining rooms, exclusive venues or spaces that can be adapted for corporate gatherings.

Book important dinners before travelling
During TFWA week, restaurants in central Cannes can become particularly busy. If you are planning a dinner with an important client, partner or group, make the reservation part of your event planning rather than leaving it until you arrive.
A well-planned dinner can also make the evening easier to manage when several meetings and networking events are taking place across Cannes.
Networking after the exhibition
TFWA’s networking programme is an important part of the week.
The TFWA Lounge at Carlton Beach provides an informal setting for delegates after the exhibition, while the Opening Cocktail on Sunday evening marks the beginning of the event.
For first-time attendees, these events can be as valuable as walking the exhibition floor.
The difference is preparation.
Before attending an evening event, identify a few people you would genuinely like to meet. A simple introduction is much easier when you already know why you want to speak to someone.
What should you wear to TFWA?
TFWA’s official guidance is straightforward: most delegates wear normal business attire for the Exhibition, Conference and Workshops.
A practical packing list would therefore include:
- Business attire for meetings
- Comfortable professional shoes
- A blazer or light jacket
- Smart eveningwear
- Cocktail attire for the Opening Cocktail
- Weather-appropriate clothing for late September
Cannes may still be warm during the day, but you may also spend considerable time in air-conditioned conference and exhibition spaces.
Practical technology tips for TFWA
Download the official TFWA app before travelling.
It provides access to: event programme, exhibitor list, exhibition floorplans, news updates, TFWA 365, conference livestream, information about who is attending.
TFWA also provides free Wi-Fi inside the Palais des Festivals with the access code available on the delegate badge.
Still, don’t make your entire schedule dependent on connectivity.

A final word on planning TFWA in Cannes
The biggest mistake a first-time attendee can make is treating TFWA World Exhibition & Conference 2026 as a conventional trade show.
The exhibition itself is only one part of the week.
Your results will also depend on how efficiently you move between meetings, where you stay, how you use the networking programme and how well you organise the conversations that happen away from the exhibition floor.
Cannes is compact, but during a major international event, time becomes the resource you need to manage most carefully.
That is where local knowledge becomes valuable.
